Jung-Jae Kim & Dasom Baek explore the shared space between contemporaryimprovisation and the centuries-old traditions of Korean wind instruments. Their music unfoldsfrom the most delicate sonic elements—breath, resonance, subtle friction—merging ancienttimbres with modern experimental practice. Operating at the intersection of East and West, theduo creates immersive soundscapes shaped by attentive listening, spacious forms, and a deepsensitivity to silence.
Jung-Jae Kim is a South Korean saxophonist, composer, and improviser in Berlin. Through a transdisciplinary and exploratory approach, he pushes the boundaries of sonic aesthetics and instrumental roles, using free improvisation to investigate the senses, communication, and the expanding possibilities of sound.
Dasom Baek is a performer, composer, improviser, researcher specializing in Daegeum and Sogeum, and a certified holder of National Intangible Cultural Heritage No. 45. With roots in Korean traditional performance practice, she extends her instruments into contemporary and experimental terrains, bridging heritage with forward-looking innovation.
Together, Kim and Baek create a sound world both intimate and expansive—meditative yet charged with subtle energy. Their performances offer a contemplative, cross-cultural experience where silence, breath, and intricate detail shape a unique musical dialogue.
